these four days include a Obedience Trial,
Rally Trial, Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test, Roustabout,
AWSC Hunt Tests, Junior events, the club's

more. The Nationals offers many
opportunities to display your dogs' talents,

2016 AWSC HUNT TEST NEWS FLASH!
Participants will have the opportunity
to earn both an AKC spaniel hunt test pass
and a pass at the AWSC hunt tests,
with no extra fees. This is possible because
the AKC spaniel hunt tests and the AWSC hunt
tests run dogs and owners through nearly the
same flushing work. AWSC is offering this
dual opportunity as a way to provide extra
value for members. Also, the Hunting
Event Schedule has changed. The
Roustabout will now be run on Sunday instead
of Friday, so that the dogs'
carefully-trained edge can be applied to the
Hunt Tests before turning them loose at the
Roustabout. The Water Trial will not
be run in 2016.
2016 CANINE GOOD CITIZEN TEST!
American Water Spaniel Club will be
offering participants at the 2016 Nationals
an opportunity to run their Little Brown
Dogs through the CGC test. Dr. Carolyn
Kraskey, an AWSC member from Minneapolis,
Minnesota, will be the CGC evaluator for the
test. The AKC's Canine Good Citizen
program (CGC) is recognized as the gold
standard for dog behavior. CGC is designed
to reward dogs who demonstrate good manners
at home and in the community. The two-part
program stresses responsible pet ownership
for owners and basic good manners for dogs.
All dogs of any age who pass the 10-step CGC
test may earn a certificate from the
American Kennel Club - and there is also an
opportunity to earn the CGC as an AKC title.
